Paris Plages 2025: Brazilian Vibes, Free Swims, and Summer Fun Along the Seine

Every summer, Paris reinvents itself as an urban beach paradise with the beloved Paris Plages event. From July 5 to August 31, 2025, the city’s riverbanks and canals will once again be transformed into sun-soaked playgrounds, complete with palm trees, loungers, and a festive atmosphere. This 24th edition is set to be the most vibrant yet, with a special Brazilian twist in celebration of 200 years of Franco-Brazilian diplomatic relations.

Six Free Swimming Spots—A First for Paris

For the first time ever, Parisians and visitors can take a dip in the Seine itself, thanks to three new supervised swimming zones: Bras Marie (Paris Centre), Bras de Grenelle (15th arrondissement), and Quai de Bercy (12th arrondissement). These join the classic summer spots at Parc Rives de Seine, Bassin de la Villette, and Canal Saint-Martin, making a total of six places to cool off for free this summer.

Safety is a top priority: water quality will be monitored daily, and clear flag systems will indicate whether swimming is allowed. Floating pontoons, lifeguards, and comfortable seating ensure a safe and relaxing experience for all.

Paris Plages 2025: A Brazilian Carnival on the Seine

This year, Paris Plages goes all-in on Brazilian flair. Under the artistic direction of Emilio Kalil and with Brazilian legend Raï as honorary patron, the event will channel the spirit of Copacabana right onto the Seine’s banks. Expect sandy beaches, tropical greenery, and a lineup bursting with Brazilian music, dance, and culture.

The opening festivities kick off July 5 at Bassin de la Villette, featuring a lively parade in partnership with the Bal Arrangé. Throughout the summer, enjoy open-air concerts, energetic batucada drum performances, DJ sets, and participatory workshops. Brazilian cinema will be showcased under the stars, with six films screened along the river from July 31 to August 2.

A Feast for the Senses: Brazilian Food, Art, and Sport

The Hôtel de Ville will host a Brazilian food village from July 12 to August 20, offering street food and culinary delights from across Brazil. Three major photography exhibitions will celebrate Brazilian artists—Maureen Bisilliat at Canal Saint-Martin, Luiz Braga at Quai des Célestins, and João Farkas at Quai de l’Hôtel de Ville—bringing a taste of Brazil’s vibrant culture to Paris.

Sports lovers can join in free beach volleyball tournaments on the newly greened forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville or try out basketball and climbing walls at Place de la Concorde. And on July 6, the Champs-Élysées will erupt in color with a tropical carnival parade.

Fun for All Ages

Paris Plages is designed for everyone, especially families. Kids can enjoy creative workshops, storytelling, games, and hands-on activities focused on nature, recycling, and first aid. There’s plenty of space for young ones to play, learn, and make new friends—all in a safe, open-air environment. Ice cream vendors and snack stands will keep everyone refreshed throughout the day.

Stay Active on the Water and the Quays

Beyond swimming, a full range of free activities is on offer: canoeing, kayaking, rowing, pedal boats, and boat rides for all ages. Fitness classes, yoga sessions, dance workshops, table football, and ping-pong matches will keep the energy high along the riverbanks and canals. Whether you want to relax with a book in a deckchair or get moving on the sand, Paris Plages has something for everyone.
