Fluctuart is an innovative floating cultural center dedicated to the vibrant world of street art, located at the foot of the Pont des Invalides in Paris.
Open since the spring of 2019, this free and year-round venue provides a unique space for both art exhibitions and cultural encounters, all within a floating structure.
The center occupies a barge originally constructed in Dieppe, which stands out due to its transparent architecture, offering a cultural window that merges art with the iconic Parisian landscape.
A Hybrid Cultural Space
Fluctuart is far more than just an exhibition space—it’s a hybrid venue designed to bring people closer to art and culture. The space, which spans nearly 900 m², offers visitors much more than street art exhibitions.
It’s a gathering place for Parisians and visitors alike, with a rooftop terrace that boasts stunning panoramic views of the Grand Palais, Eiffel Tower, and Trocadéro.
Below, at water level, visitors can explore a bookshop dedicated to street art literature, while enjoying drinks at the bar.
The permanent collection features works by renowned street artist Banksy, while the temporary exhibition space hosts rotating displays from urban artists.
Temporary Exhibitions and Events
The core of Fluctuart’s programming revolves around its temporary exhibitions, which take place on the main deck and span over 300 m².
These exhibits focus on urban artists, carefully selected to showcase a diverse range of styles and approaches to street art. With exhibitions changing every three months, Fluctuart provides a platform for new voices in the urban art scene.
The space is also dedicated to fostering inclusivity, with a commitment to representing both male and female artists, reflecting the rebellious and activist nature of street art itself.
Moreover, Fluctuart hosts a variety of cultural events, from book launches to performances and concerts, making it a dynamic part of Paris’s artistic landscape.
Innovative Architecture on the Seine
The architectural design of Fluctuart is as striking as its programming. Created by Seine Design under the leadership of architect Gérard Ronzatti, the floating center responds to the city’s iconic riverfront, offering a new immersive experience for visitors.
The structure is designed around three key spaces that represent a journey from the water’s edge to the open sky: the exhibition room, the rooftop offering skyward views, and the main deck, featuring large glass windows that reflect the riverbanks.
This design allows visitors to engage with art in a unique and intuitive way, reinforcing the connection between Paris’s urban landscape and its artistic heritage.
