Nestled near the historic Château de Vincennes in the expansive Vincennes Woods, the Parc Floral de Paris offers a lush botanical escape with vibrant floral displays, themed gardens, and diverse leisure activities for all ages.
A Historical and Artistic Creation
Parc Floral de Paris, created for the 1969 International Floralies, was born from an artistic vision of Daniel Collin, Paris’s renowned horticultural engineer.
Nestled on repurposed military grounds, this expansive 35-hectare garden is a celebration of both landscape artistry and nature’s charm. Collin’s design combines graceful curves and floral artistry, with architecture inspired by Tokyo’s 1964 Olympics seen in the soaring roofs and pavilion layouts.
His aim was clear: create an oasis for city-dwellers eager for tranquility amidst nature’s floral spectacle, blending urban beauty with family-friendly spaces.
A Garden of Thematic Wonders
Today, the Parc Floral delights visitors of all ages, with themed gardens that bring together international and indigenous plant collections.
From spring’s stunning tulip displays to autumn’s celebrated Dahlia Garden, each season unveils a new burst of color. Don’t miss the Garden of Four Seasons, showcasing over 1,200 types of perennials like Iberis, peonies, and asters, offering a year-round display of lush flora. The Valley of Flowers presents aquatic plants thriving beside its reflective pond, while the Living Wall showcases hydroponically grown greenery that captivates the eye.
For children, 28 patios and indoor gardens with micro-climates highlight bonsai, Mediterranean plants, and medicinal herbs—each space designed to thrive in unique, controlled environments.
Nature Education and Engaging Events
An educational haven, Parc Floral is as much about learning as it is about beauty. Nature trails and exhibits make it an ideal spot for exploring biodiversity, while the “Path of Evolution” introduces visitors to 600 plant species from the Ile-de-France region.
Every meter on this pathway represents a million years of plant evolution, from ancient mosses and ferns to more recent wildflowers. Ecologically maintained, these natural landscapes include artificial ponds that nurture local wildlife, from dragonflies to waterfowl, forming a living ecosystem right in the city.
Leisure and Culture for All Ages
For families, the Parc Floral de Paris is an adventure-filled retreat with extensive recreational areas. Young visitors revel in the mini-golf course, where each of the 18 holes represents a Parisian monument in miniature. Climbing activities, quadricycles, and adventure playgrounds offer hours of fun.
Art enthusiasts will find the park a hidden gem of sculptures, featuring renowned artists like Giacometti and Calder. In summer, the park hosts several iconic festivals, including the Paris Jazz Festival and Festival Classique au Vert, drawing crowds with free musical performances set against a verdant backdrop.
The Botanical Heart of Paris
With over 7,951 referenced plant species, the Parc Floral is not just a garden but an official botanical site since 1998. Its collections span from native wildflowers to exotic blooms, showcasing national collections of irises, geraniums, and ferns.
Each fall, the annual dahlia competition draws international attention, while the park’s springtime tulip displays are among Paris’s most breathtaking sights.
Known for its pioneering horticultural exhibitions and public outreach, the Maison du Jardin Botanique offers courses, art exhibits, and personal development workshops, enhancing the park’s reputation as a hub for both beauty and education.
